frequently asked questions

  • Is there a cost or tuition required to attend Heritage Classical Academy?
No, Heritage Classical Academy is a tuition-free public charter school.
  • What grade levels will Heritage Classical Academy go up to?
Heritage Classical Academy will open in the fall of 2025 with kindergarten and first grade. Each subsequent year the next grade level will be added to the school (example: second grade added in 2026, third grade in 2027, etc). The school will eventually go up to eighth grade.
  • Where will Heritage Classical Academy be located?
HCA will be located at 1130 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018.
  • How can I enroll my child?
Visit our enrollment page - click here.
  • What is Lotterease?
Lotterease is a user-friendly online platform designed to streamline the enrollment and communication process for schools, making it faster and more convenient for families. Parents and guardians can easily apply and register for Heritage Classical Academy's lottery and enrollment via Lotterease, accessible from both computers and mobile devices. The platform allows you to upload required documents, track the status of applications, and receive important communications. Heritage Classical Academy relies on this secure and efficient system to ensure that your application is processed promptly and securely.
  • What are the selection criteria for enrollment?
Heritage Classical Academy is an open-enrollment school, meaning we have no selection filters.
  • Does my child get enrollment preference if their sibling already attends the school?
Yes. We give priority to applications from families that have an accepted sibling.
  • Does HCA accept early Kindergarten students?
We follow state guidelines which state that a child must turn five years old on or before September 1st in the year in which they are enrolling for Kindergarten.
  • Will before and after school care be available?
Before school care will NOT be provided, due to our school day beginning at 7:15 a.m. We will offer after-school care, details forthcoming.
  • Will breakfast and/or lunch be served at school?
Yes, breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase similar to other school systems.
  • How can I stay up-to-date on the latest information about the school?
Sign up for our newsletter - click here.
  • Are donations required? What will they go towards?
Donations to the school are not required for enrollment. Unlike regular public schools, charter schools must provide their own funding for capital expenses such as buildings and the inventory found inside them. So while the government does provide funding for each student attending, we also have to look to other sources of revenue to make up the significant deficit.
  • What is a Classical Education?
Classical schools take an approach to education characterized by a traditional liberal arts and sciences curriculum and pedagogy, and an orientation towards truth, beauty, and goodness that aims to cultivate wise and virtuous citizens.
