An Update from HCA

HCA Friends and Families,

Although recommended for approval by the commissioner of education and the Texas Education Agency, it is with great sadness that we share Heritage Classical Academy’s charter request for the 2023-2024 school year has been denied by the Texas State Board of Education in a vote of 8 to 6.

Our team continues to adamantly believe in school choice, for giving students who have no choice an option for tuition-free, quality education. These beliefs we will always hold true. Many of our proudest moments this year involved each of you and seeing how as a community we rose together to request better for our children now and in the future. And while the outcome is not what any of us wanted, the journey was brighter and stronger with you beside us.

Your voice remains your strongest attribute to school choice for your family. If you are as saddened by this news as we are, let your voice be heard. Contact your local and state elected officials and let them know you support school choice in your community. We are stronger together, and your voice matters.

Our team will be gathering together in the coming weeks to discuss what’s next. Rest assured, once we know, you will also know.

Thank you, again, for all your support.
