Yvette Leno
Driven by love for her community, Yvette Leno is the founder and director of Beauty’s Community Garden, located in one of Houston’s 40 food deserts. The property was purchased by her grandparents (Beauty and Ernest Leno) in 1926. Today, this land serves as a garden space, a gathering place, and a cultural bridge.
Yvette had a vision and a core belief that access to healthy and fresh food is a basic human right. To date, this 6,000 square feet of land has brought together more than 650 community volunteers and donated more than 3,500 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.
An active member of her community, Yvette believes strongly in giving back and serving others and leads by example in serving her community each day.
